M4 Mac mini USB-C Port Guide
The M4 Mac mini has five USB-C ports that can be used to restore Apple Silicon machines in DFU mode. Each Mac mini has one DFU port, three ports with separate USB 3.1 buses, and two ports that share a USB 3.1 bus. This guide identifies the DFU port, each USB address, and the shared USB 3.1 bus.

The front of the Mac mini has two USB-C ports. The USB address for the device plugged into the port closest to the light indicator is 0X2110000, and the USB address for the device plugged into the farthest left port is 0X2120000. These two ports share a single USB 3.1 bus. Restoring a single machine in DFU mode plugged into either port will take about 8 minutes. If both ports are used, the restore time will double for the machines connected to these ports because of the shared bus speed. We recommend using a single front port to restore.

The back of the Mac mini has three USB-C ports. For the device plugged into the port closest to the HDMI port, the USB address is 0x1100000, the port middle device is 0x100000, and for the device plugged into the farthest to the right port, the USB address is 0X3100000. The middle port on the back is the only port that will put Apple Silicon Macs into DFU mode. All three ports on the back of the Mac mini have separate USB 3.1 buses and can be used to restore machines in DFU mode in about 8 minutes.

DFU Blaster Pro displays the USB address for each connected device. The USB address can used to help troubleshoot. This screenshot has four devices connected. One device at USB address 0x2120000 is connected to the front left port of the Mac, and devices 0X1100000, 0x100000, and 0X3100000 are connected to the back three ports on the Mac.

In the System information in the USB section, all target devices in DFU mode and connected by the DFU port will display with the correlating USB 3.1 bus location ID.
