Shrink/Expanding Boot Camp Partition with Winclone
Starting with Winclone 7, the options to shrink or expand a Boot Camp partition only appear when block-based imaging has been selected. Shrinking is not required for file-based (WIM) imaging. File-based imaging does not image the filesystem; rather, it makes a snapshot of all the files and associated metadata.
If block-based imaging is required, enable it in Winclone Preferences under the Winclone dropdown in the menu bar. Once block-based imaging is enabled, the Shrink and Restore options will become available in the Tools dropdown of the menu bar.
Block-based imaging is faster on physical hard drives, but the image cannot be restored to a drive that has a different physical block size. File-based imaging does not have the block-size limitation.
