Winclone Pro packages on Sequoia

You are here:

On macOS 15 Sequoia, Apple dropped support for bundle packages, which Winclone uses for package deployments. As of macOS 15 Sequoia, Winclone Packages no longer work. This article outlines the issue and provides an alternative method using the command-line tools. Overview of Issue

Apple has dropped support for bundle-type packages in Sequoia. This means Winclone Pro packages can no longer be run on a machine running macOS 15 or later.

Workaround

Users can still install a Winclone image using the command-line tool inside the image.

  1. Go to the Winclone menu Tools > Make Self-Extracting, select the Winclone image, then select Make Self-Extracting.
  2. Copy that Winclone image to the destination machine.
  3. If the bootcamp partition has not been created yet, you will need to create it with Disk Utility or the command-line “diskutil”.
  4. Run the following command to restore the Winclone image to the target machine.
sudo /path/to/winclone/image/winclone_helper_tool --self-extract -p /dev/diskXsY

Replace the path to the Winclone image and diskXSY with the device ID of the bootcamp partition. For example, if the Winclone image is /Users/Shared/windows.winclone and the bootcamp partition is /dev/disk0s4:

sudo /Users/Shared/windows.winclone/winclone_helper_tool --self-extract -p /dev/disk0s4
