Five separate companies produce CACs for the U.S. Government. Each company uses a different language and voltage for its cards. These differences can affect how the CAC interacts with readers. Identifying which company manufactured your CAC can help with troubleshooting support issues.

How to Identify

The CAC has a code that indicates the manufacturer, operating system, and batch number. This code is located along the edge of the CAC and is most likely on the back of the card. The first portion of this code will be mostly made up of letters and will identify the card’s manufacturer. This Identifier contains no personal information.
