Resetting your Smart Card Reader

Are you having issues with your Smart Card Utility app or the Wireless Mobile or Bluetooth Reader? Try resetting the reader and app. Once both are reset, you will be able to use the reader and app from the default settings.

To Reset the App

  1. Remove any inserted certificates in the Smart Card Utility App
  2. Select Smart Card Utility Settings(gear in the lower right corner) on the main screen of the app
  3. Select Reset All Settings
  4. Force quit the app

Delete Bluetooth Pairing

  • Go to Apple Settings > Bluetooth
  • Select the i next to your device’s Bluetooth ID identifier. This can be found on the back of the reader.
  • Then select Forget This Device

To Reset the Reader

  1. Make sure the reader is off. Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn it off (all lights should be off)
  2. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
    Wireless Mobile Reader: the reader will be reset when you see all the LEDs turn on and you release the button.
    Bluetooth Reader: The red and blue lights will flash twice when the reader has been reset.
